    Bass is omnidirectional below around 250hz so regardless of whether your monitors are front ported or not low frequencies below 250hz will radiate all around, ask a professional sound engineer. I used to be a sound engineer myself. If you want evidence of what I said pull your monitors further away from the rear wall and you'll hear what I mean.

    What about just using the "acoustic" model on a Boss Katana? I'm actually a violinist using electric fiddle through the 2x12 Katana and it's the best amp I've ever played through. My acoustic guitars sounds great on that model obviously too.

    Yamaha hs7 have a flatter response

  • @MotivatedMetalworks
    @MotivatedMetalworks 10 місяців тому

    It's a midbass not a subwoofer. The integral amps are rated for 140w, audio power, not constant power consumption. A flat speaker is one that doesn't impart coloration - flat compared to a reference tone: you know, plays what the signal is telling it to. And that's what studio monitors are meant to do. It's why the amp is built in - so that there's no coloration from multiple imbalanced components in the signal chain. Lastly, you don't need a mixer to use these. You can use TS cables and plug them right into the headphone jack on your Walkman (ok, so that tells you how long I've been around this stuff). You can't plug a line source device into them though, it needs a volume control somewhere before the internal amps.

    I have no hiss. I agree with you about the power buttons on the back and the settings interface on the rear too. Its fiddly. However, mine are super quiet. I use Presonus Studio 24c with these in a MacMini M1 setup. Kind of surprised you didn't go into the KRK app that helps you with what settings to use on the backs for optimal sound. Mine are Ice White. I have a very clean Power Circuit and make sure my speakers use a different circuit from the rest of the equipment plus they run on a conditioned surge protected quality powerstrip too. Nice video might have been nice to talk about how loud they can go, what settings you found yourself using etc.. but hey I suppose you can't have everything ;) Thanks for the video.

    Standby Your monitors have the ability to power down when you are not using them for 30 minutes. If you don’t want them doing that, you simply switch the standby feature off in the SETUP menu. But if you use standby to save energy or because the power switches are hard to reach in your studio, leave the standby on. You will know that they are in standby because the KRK logo will pulse (even if you normally have the KRK logo light off). To wake up your monitors after they go into standby. Just like when you first turn them on, there is a three second delay until the light on the front comes on and a second later you get signal to the speaker. If your speakers go into standby, ease your source volume up slowly. You only have to break -50 dBu for them to come out of standby. This will keep you from excessive volume spikes if you ease it up slowly. Also, as you raise the volume, you can use the light going solid as an indication to turn your source back down to avoid any loud spikes. Or if your setting is KRK logo light out, you can use the pulsing light going off to indicate you are about a second from the speaker coming on.

    I also have this problem on the M-Audio AIR 192/6, and from what I can see in the comments here I'm not alone. It's a real shame because otherwise I really like the unit. My old M-Audio Firewire 1814 does not have this issue, but unfortunately the drivers stopped at Windows 7 and also firewire connections are hard to find these days. I'll try this fix but if it persists I'll have to buy some other USB interface, probably something from Steinberg, since I use Cubase.
